I have just returned home from the tomahawk seminar with Mr. Caracci. I think I am finally coming down from my high. All I can say was that it was fantastic. A basic breakdown of the "workshop" was a quick intro by Mr. Prisco followed by Mr. Caracci talking about body orientation and some psychological concepts. Basic grips were covered and then half speed contact: hawk vs. empty hand, hawk vs. hawk, and hawk vs. knife including lethal and less than lethal techniques. Mr. Prisco quickly covered different carrying systems of the different hawks. This seminar really opened my eyes to the versatility of a hawk.
It was an honor to train with Mr. Caracci. His concept are truly simple, as stated (not often the case with some insturctors). I went into this seminar with zero training with the hawks, but was able to see how one can easily introduce the hawk into ones training without complicated techniques. All concepts were straight forward and I look forward to level 2 and other seminars that hopefully will result. Thank you again Mr. Prisco and Mr. Caracci for this seminar. It was great to meet you both.

Guys and Gals... if you missed out on this seminar you truly MISSED OUT!! It was an eye opener and peaked my interest in Hawks. There goes what little money I have left!!

I just got back from the seminar. Peter was right!!!! It was a GREAT seminar!!!!!! It was an experience that I will never forget. Especially when we paired off. I was paired with Brian Jones, and his martial arts experience truly impressed me. Also, Peter was "used" by Chris to demonstrate some of the "techniques" that we learned.
All in all, it was the most fun learning experience I ever had!!!!

Andy, Chris, if you plan "Seminar2" sign me up!!!!

PS>>>>>>>Hey Brian!!!!! How did you like it?????

PPS>>>>>>>>>>>>> Peter, You may be poorer, financially; but when you get your own hawk and apply what you learned. You WILL be a truly rich man!!!!;)

"Used" is right. Great fun!!!
While thinking about the seminar, although it is labeled tomahawk, a large majority of the discussion was VERY applicable to both everyday and other "defensive" techniques. It is KISS, to perfection.
Big-Target, it was great to meet you. Hopefully we will meet back-up at Level 2.

So, since you guys went to the training if you could only pick one would pick a tomhawk over a knife in your bob? If so please tell the rest of the group why.

I loved this seminar! Chris really knows what works based on his many real-world encounters, but even better: he knows how to impart the information clearly, and with humor.

For me, the highlight of the seminar was when I suddenly found myself squared off with Chris, he with a hawk, and me with a knife, for free-form sparring. Talk about a learning experience! WOW! Chris opened my eyes to where my weaknesses are as a fighter.

I felt that I came away from this semnar with much new information, that built upon, and clarified, some things I had already learned.

BT, it was great training with ya.

Peter, great to meet you, too.

Chris: thank you so much for the opportunity to train with you!

Andy: thank you for putting on a helluva seminar!

All the Best,

Brian.

It pretty much comes down to distance. You can stay farther away from the BG with a hawk and still inflict the same damage as a knife, if not more. Grip definately comes into play here as does the handle. The seminar really opened my eyes to this. The hawk in the right hands is a VERY good weapon.

Personally, I would have BOTH a knife and a hawk . As far as hawks go I would have the Ranger Spike hawk(both origial and NG version) as a Visible carry"camp" item. And possibly carry the VN HAWK( in a Caracci design sheath) for concealed carry.
