Hi, I have an interest in trying out tomahawk throwing. Although I am well versed on knives > not so much in this part of the hobby.

Any ideas on some decent hawks to start with? I am open to anything traditional or even possibly modern as well. If not overly expensive; any potential custom makers people could recommend would be appreciated as well. thanks, John

Tomahawk or hatchet? Hatchet throwing has become something of an organized/club sport in the past couple of years and has its own requirements vs. tomahawks. Knowing what you're looking at specifically will help with recommendations.

I just got one from GL.Drew and I have another on the way from Andrew Takach. I'll be throwing them in a couple of weeks so I'll let you know how they work out, then. The one I'm getting from Andrew he posted a video. He threw it well. I hope I can do as well.

Honestly, I am just looking for some casual fun with my buddies and perhaps my royal ranger boys at church. I am open to probably both. Thanks and appreciate any feedback. John.

For throwing hatchets, the Council Tool Flying Fox hatchet is a new and popular choice, and the Cold Steel Hatchet Gang model is also a popular option. For slip-fit tomahawks the various Cold Steel ones generally do well once you ditch the set screws and remove any shoulder they have on the handles.

I would suggest the Allan Foundry Octagon Hawk from Ragnar (ragweedforge.com).
Ragnar is one of the best sellers, shipping is fast and very cheap and he responds to your inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
For throwing hawks the Allan Foundry 410 cast steel heads are tough. The casts are clean, so you can get matched hawks easily.
You will receive hawks with much better fit than the Cold Steel ones, and I personally prefer the slim and well finished handles Ragnar sends.

Dude...you know Ragnar passed away, right? Not sure who took over the website but he's no longer with us. :(

The good news is the site is still being run, and I think it's possibly been taken over by the people who own Knives of the North, as I started receiving info from them shortly after Ragnar's passing, and they're also from New York, run by a couple of SCA folks, and they have a 90%+ overlap in products. This is all speculation on my part, but they were founded in 2018 (presumably late in the year) and didn't have any web presence up and active until roughly Q2 of 2019, so the timeline matches up. If my suspicions are true, they're probably keeping the old Ragweed Forge site up for legacy customers and for SEO/backlink purposes.
