Hi all, I was doing research on the use of tomahawks in WWII, and i was wondering if any of you know of any recorded uses of hatchets or tomahawks in the second world war?

thanks in advance!

Thanks for the response, Ill check them out!

*edit* I have looked these over, and unfortunately, there is no solid proof there, but i do appreciate the help!

Something about WW1-2 and Tomahawks just doesn't mix if you ask me, but a quick search yields this supposedly a "British auxilery axe"

I know tomahawks were used in Vietnam though.

Look up Pete Lagana, WW2 Marine, who spent years developing and perfecting his tomahawk design. His hawks were used in the war and later conflicts.

Yeah ive come across that as well as the Crash axe used by RAF and OSS during WWII

I figured with such colorful characters as Lt Col "Jack" Churchill, who carried a claymore and longbow into battle, there would be someone somewhere who used a tomahawk!

German Infantry Offficers often had a hawk-like rig atatched to their bayonet - not many in WW2, but almost all of them in WW1 in the trenches.

i'm currently having a problem finding a visual example.

My thoughts also. I spent 11 months as a grunt over in Nam. Never seen one of those Vietnam hawks over there but I hear they were there. The only ax we had was a machete. I'm sure special forces had some special tools we never saw. :D

Too bad somebody doesn't make and updated version of that with a wider head and more narrow handle like a regular hawk.
