The rains came & came & are still coming..

We have had rain for over a week accompanied with wind gusts up to 60 mph.Our tomato trees are sagging ,grounds soaked-danger from water weakened root systems allow these massive oaks to fall. Palm trees are swaying but their unique root system seems to defy gravity & keep them erect.

I honestly believe we've had a yard of rain. Just dumped 5 & 1/2 "from gauge. Hopefully,Fay passed over 3 hours ago. We pray for those less fortunate as nationwide TV is showing.

Thoughts & prayers from Concord - I lived in South Carolina for a while growing up. I don't miss those storms.

There's got to be a way to adapt pipeline technology to shunt some of that rain to the south WEST !!!
Why should you guys get all the good stuff? I hope you come out of this OK. Next time, plant more palm trees!

The sad part is, a lot of Florida gets their water from Georgia, so all this flooding does absolutly nothing to alleviate the drought situation even here in Florida.

Uncle Alan, I hear you, I'm in St. Augustine, and haven't seen the sun in days.

This too shall pass.

I used to be like that in New York when I worked nights. You have to get out more. Which one do we call The Sunshine State?
It actually does remind me of the rainy season back up North, when the sky would be grey and cloudy for weeks on end (I think it's worse up there... so depressing). I hated that time of year, I guess that's why I moved to Florida...
But I do believe Fay has finally passed.:)

Long as I remember the rain been comin down.
Clouds of mystery pourin confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, tryin to find the sun;
And I wonder, still I wonder, wholl stop the rain.

I went down virginia, seekin shelter from the storm.
Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow.
Five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, still I wonder wholl stop the rain.

Heard the singers playin, how we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together, tryin to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin, fallin on my ears.
And I wonder, still I wonder wholl stop the rain

Smoke and prayers for those who didn't make it through the storm...

incipient autumn

silently sliding across the sky
gathering clouds grumble and cry
soaking the sand with sneering disdain
cursing us all with gusts of cold rain
wait for the wind to blow it away
clearing another cool soggy day

One inch overnight, sunrise most welcome. Yard drying nicely,yard/handyman coming Monday & KABOOM ! Over an inch in about 20 minutes.....
I was ready to turn on our garage A/C & in a matter of a few seconds, here she comes with vengance ! Couldn't see the street down our 100 ft. drive. tomato trees beat down again.....

Gloom ,despair agony & on me,if I didn't have bad luck........

Uncle [ mildewed ] Alan:grumpy:

flickering power
another rain shower
drowning the town and the roads

gloom and despair
so much rain is unfair
its only a boon for the ducks and the toads

glower in agony
stare at the mildew
who knows what a downpour like this one forebodes?

Wishing all of you in Fay country a big, bright sunshiney break already!

Finished supper & was sitting in garage when lightening started striking all around. BOOM just outside & one ceiling lamp got zapped !
Globe pieces everywhere . Needed light to sweep up shards & automatically flipped light switch & both lights worked. Vibiration or strike ?

"nother inch or two in just a few minutes. Gonna wait until tomorrow to check out roof.

Gloom,despair &....

I had over a foot of standing water in my nursery after Fay came through here. The ground is still so wet that, after it rained here today, there is now about 11" standing again. and we didn't even get the worst of it like some of you guys up north aways. Even the high ground is spongy, footprints filling with water.
