TON OF PHOTOS of my same old knives

Got my old camera back and just having some fun. Unfortunately the photos aren't as clear as they should be but I still had fun. I never get tired of showing the same knives over and over. I didn't really edit these at all aside from cropping. This camera also doesn't focus on the whole thing so only certain areas are crisp. I could probably find a better way to do it.

Hello Jonathan!

Thanks for posting these (again)! With my very first DH3 incoming at this moment (should have crossed the pond allready), your Hansons are more than a welcome feast for the eyes! ;) :)

Are you mostly after damascus blades? I am asking, because I alsways like to find out, what the main focus of other people's collection is. I myself am still looking for such a destinct focus and tend to grab whatever catches my eye... :o I do have a (very) soft spot for certain makers though.

While that Fuegen is not really for me (personally not into push-daggers), the amazing level of detail makes me wish, you'd send this one over to Caleb for some of his up-close-magic!

Best regards,
Alex

Beautiful shots of beautiful knives, Jon! Thanks for sharing again. Do you use a light box? I recently built one and still experimenting with it.

Jonathan,
You have very fine taste! You do these makers proud by sharing their skills. Photos really highlight what makes these knives "top tier" and unique. It is truly amazing, the art and intricacy of all of it.

Jon, we never get tired of seeing beautiful knives and you enjoy photographing and sharing them so we ALL win.
You demonstrate another example of the ways collectors 'use' custom knives for enjoyment.

There is much satisfaction to be had from using quality things. I can't understand the guys who never cut anything with a knife because it is "too nice to use".

The best "use" for a custom knife is whatever 'use' brings the individual knife-lover/owner the most pleasure.

Jon, I really enloy shooting my knives as well, however I find knives to be incredibly difficult to photograph. I wish I had your skills. I consider the two images below to be very good, however I will only get this quality about 1 out of about 50 times I try to photograph a knife. I don't ever seem to be able to capture a Damascus knife very well.
Amateurs like you and of course Chuck, Coop, Buddy, Caleb, David, Eric make it look so easy.

All fine knives I never tire of seeing. New pics offer different views and perspectives! Love the Hansonfest.

I had a dream that you were trying to contact me because you wanted to offer the Hanson M.S. test folder to become part of my collection of Hanson's...you want to give the Hanson M.S. test folder to Rob...you want to give the Hanson M.S. test folder to Rob...(we'll see if the Jedi mind trick really works :D).

Which ones Don's 'MS' test folder?

Don got his M.S. around the time I started getting serious about collecting custom knives. I've had the privilege of handling this knife when Jon had it with him years ago at the NY show. I have lusted for it ever since :p The ivory, damascus and overall design are all things that I find quite desirable.

I've been fortunate over the years and landed several Hanson "grails", sometimes waiting almost half a decade for one to free up. If the Jedi mind trick doesn't work (I've tried it on Jon before and it does not) I will be offering him other objects de lust to see if I can shake it loose :D

All jokes aside, I know Jon loves this knife and I'm glad another serious Hanson collector possesses it!

Jon, I appreciate your well intentioned efforts! The photos might not be world class, but who cares? The Love comes through and that's all that matters :)
