I know this question will look dumb to some of you fellas.
I have a few knives that have that polished look and I never use them.
The finger prints and the like, drive me nuts ;)

Besides wiping the blade down constantly, is there any method of toning the shine down? Say more of a satin finish, or..

PS The one knife in particular is a, Sebenza Classic

Hire a pro to give you the finish you want or use some sandpaper and elbow grease.

there are a couple things you could do, the easiest would be to get some 1000 grit sandpaper and rub lengthwise until you get a nice uniform scratch pattern....1000 grit scratches are very fine, almost to a mirror finish but just enough to give it a little satin sheen....otherwise some other options are very very fine steel wool or a greeny that you would use to scrub pots....you could do the lengthwise pattern or a circular one with either of those and it would come out looking very satin....try to practice on something scrap first if you can....like something chrome that you don't mind scratching up a bit...that way you don't ruin that expensive blade of yours

You boys are fast...sand paper was what I was thinking.
Thought I best ask first, Garrett, good idea, start with a no loss knife first.

Hey, the wife works tomorrow! how bout that chrome toaster. :D

I will second the scotch brite suggestion, gray aka fine makes for a real nice finish.

I trying it right now with a scotch brite on a real shine Rough Rider sod buster.
It working guys! BTW what is gray aka?

on sebenzas, stonewash finish is nice. just send the blade out for stonewashing, then resharpen the edge.

Thanks rifon2, will see if I can pick one up, I just used the green on that sod buster, and finished with a 1500 sand paper.

Tomorrow, If I have the nerve, I will do the Sebi, wish me luck lol
