On PBS' Frontline:

Really good program on tonight on PBS at 9.

Frontline goes inside the Iraq insurgency. Should be great.

(60 minutes) Kidnappings. Suicide bombers. Beheadings. Roadside bombs. The Iraqi insurgency continues to challenge the most highly trained and best-equipped military in the world. FRONTLINE peels back the layers and gets beyond the propaganda to take a complex look inside the multi-faceted insurgency in Iraq. The investigation includes special access to insurgent leaders, as well as commanders of Iraqi and U.S. military units battling for control of the country and detailed analysis from journalists who have risked their lives to meet insurgent leaders and their foot soldiers. On February 21, FRONTLINE explores the battle for one Iraqi town and presents vivid testimony from civilians whose families were targeted by the insurgents.

I do not consider Frontline an impartial production. However, this may be worth watching.

I had this one flagged as well. Should be thought provoking. Plus maybe it will get really good and they'll show some knives... ;)

I thought it was pretty good. Could have been longer though.

It was interesting to me the perspective of the Iraqi general who said if the US pulled out it would be a total bloodbath.

Reminded me of another show they did where an Iraqi gov't official was trying to find the site of this mass grave and the townfolk from where it was supposedly near were uncooperative. He said something to the effect that after all that had come down he didn't know how they would ever live together. The Gen was a Sunni and the guy in the previous show a Kurd.

Anyway obviouly Saddam was terrible, but you wonder what sort of level of force and intimidation is actually necessary to hold such a divided population under one govt.
