Tonight I order a new pen

After going back and forth way too much on what pen to put in my current setup, I've finally decided to just jump in and order one tonight. I'm thinking the investigator will be sufficiently comfortable after I add O rings for extended writing. I'm still deciding between the FDE DLC and the copper though. Any input as to which for any reason is welcome, and mostly I just wanted to share.

I have done the same thing for the past two weeks. I'm between the blue investigator and FDE investigator in stainless or maybe the FDE in aluminum or maybe bronze. Sorry I was of absolutely no help.

I'm biased on FDE DLC.

That said I set the brass Investigators aside for an aluminum FDE DLC for around the house. Ordered the S/S FDE DLC for my pocket as a backup for my larger clicky primary pen. Wish the Ranch would produce a clicky so I could ditch my current carry item.

So, depending on how you decide to carry/use it and what type of weight and looks you seek...all factor into the choice.

I fly with an aluminum version in black or green.

I finally decided on the copper. I love the patina on them and I think it will make an excellent addition to my pocket!

I don't think you'd be sorry either way, but I'm sure you're gonna love the copper. I have a copper and agree the patina is just cool.

That said, I'm sure I'll end up w/ a DLC one too ;)

That was sort of my thought as well. Besides, if I hold off on the DLC they may end up with some DLC extreme duty pens, and then I could kill two birds with one stone.

I can't give you any feedback on color, but I will say that I learned something about comfort from my current pen, the Hinderer modular kubaton. Now this pen is supposed to be relatively poor as a user, and certainly it took a few minutes (minutes, not hours) to get used to it. But, that's my point: I'm used to it. I like writing with it. Every time I use it I like it because I just like the whole piece! With the cap stored on the back end it is top heavy and my hand doesn't seem to notice. Unscrewing the cap is a tactile experience that takes time, but I seem to adapt to that too. I work in my warehouse all day and I have to write things down wherever I am on a slip of paper so I am often at a loss for a horizontal surface to lean on. I love the fact that the Fisher Space refill allows me to lean up on the side of something to write. And, yeah, the kubaton gets criticized for the "smaller" refills. But, guess what, the refills last several weeks the way I use them. I bought something like twenty-five of them for about fifty dollars off the web and I am working my way through them. It's all good -- I love my pen and I find it plenty comfortable!
