This was a fun project, and challenging too. It was fun because the knife's owner and I discovered we both love the old traditional folding knives. In this case the subject is an extraordinarily clean and tight modern custom version of the old Remington "Bullet" knife in two-blade trapper form by one of the best of the best, Tony Bose. Part of the fun was trying to give the knife a period context within it's most popular time, from 1920 to about 1950.

The challenging part was, and this is always an issue, how to photographically feature a relatively plain unadorned knife, giving it the same visual presence and power as all the great 'art knives' we see these days.

Here are the two images we came up with, each very different from the other but hopefully effective in their own way.

Regarding the artifacts in the images there are a Parker celluloid fountain pen belonging to my grandfather, an Elgin engineer's pocket watch belonging to my great uncle, and two liberty coins from that period.

very cool pics! The top one captures the era really well in my opinion. Beautiful knife as well.

VERY cool Buddy. Exquisite knife and excellent picture composition. I especially like the first picture.

You're a better photographer, but GREAT minds think alike:D

If my photos are not appreicated, I will remove them. That Bose is in a WHOLE different category of folders!

Buddy,

Beautiful knife and great presentation. I especially love the first photo, setting Tony's craftsmanship firmly in context.

The first picture is wonderful, Buddy. The knife is obviously center stage but the background and artifacts create a story that really help the viewer appreciate the knife itself.

Beautiful knife and outstanding picture. Thank you for sharing both.

Great pics of that Bose Bullet Buddy! I had a grandad and uncles that worked the railroad. I wish I had one of their railroad watches. The pen and the watch must be treasured family heirlooms.

Peter you really caught the color in that peanut.

Nice themes guys.
