As most of you know, Tony Foster is probably one of the most knowledgeable Case collectors in the world. He only lives about 20 minutes away from me. I have really been getting the pocket knife bug lately and decided to go over for a visit.
These guys who complain about the price of custom pocket knives don't even want to see the price of some of these pre 1964 case knives. Wow!!! Anyway, I really enjoyed my visit, but had to cut it short because Tony was getting ready to go out to take care of some personal business.

Needless to say, I dd not come out unscathed. I found three Case Sunfish / Elephant toe nails that I liked. We were rushed for time and I wanted to shop some more, so I will pick them up next week when I go back over for another visit.:D

If you ever see Tony at a show, you need to stop by and say hi. He is chock full of all kinds of pocket knife history, especially Case knives. What a treasure to have right here in my back yard.

Tony is a great guy. I always make a point to talk to him at Blade and when I need advice on an old knife, he is very generous with his knowledge. I consider him a living legend when it comes to traditional knives.

I'll get some pics up next week.

Pics would be great :thumbup::D
I love looking at all of our knives here...that sounded like a fantastic visit!!
I only wish I could get to meet some of my blade forum friends ...sit...compare knives etc...That would be a great day

Visiting Tony would have to be an amazing experience (and very dangerous financially). The old sunfish will blow large holes in a bank account - but I bet you know that already. :D

I've long been an admirer of your George Herron collection -- any chance you could put up some pictures of his folders here on the Trad forum sometime? (not in this thread of course)

Sorry, they slipped at the last second and it too was humid out this evening to do it again.
These are all from the 70's

I personally have never thought too much about the sunfish patteren, I was given a neat little Rough Rider By Don :thumbup:, and its a great knife...these knives are simply awesome...love them :thumbup:

Wonderful examples of my favorite pattern.

They all have jigged Pakkawood handles. That is real wood that has been laminated with resin. From the late 60s through 1981, that was the only handle material used on the Case 6250.

Am I the only one that really loves that jigging.

Great examples of the pattern. I imagine the sunfish blade must have felt like some serious acreage for the guys who designed the etches. That Bradford Bonanza just wouldn't work as well on most other knives.

Tony has all those OLD knives you only see in books.And in great numbers too.I met him at the Parker show a few years ago.Im pretty sure he knows more about Case knives than anyone at Case Knives.Yea,they are pricey,but the value is there.
