I received a very nice Boker "Gaucho" knife in yesterday's mail from
Argentina. I have a couple of knives in some of the patterns associated with this style of knife, but this one is an instant favorite. I really like the size, balance, materials and construction of this knife.
Then HIKV kicks in and I think: Gee, it's just too big to be carried as a karda.
Here it is with an 18" AK:
and a 21" GBS:
maybe something in 25" is in order.
While taking the pictures, I got to comparing the karda from the AK with some of my favorite belt knives. The karda has a little more edge
length than the knife directly above it.
...and since the camera was out; here are two khuks I am working on:
The BGRS is having the handle girth reduced, just need to cut the rings back on.
The 16.5" WWII has had the handle reshaped, the blade ground convex, and a satin finish applied (ala Yvsa's "green scrub pad method"}.
I plan on etching this one to see the temper line.
Regards,
Greg
