I have been on a bit of an emerson trip lately and it suddenly occurred to me that i needed to have a 7a (it just seems right :p).

My only question is wether or not i should go with the wave or not. I already have 2 waved emersons, and i sorta like the look of the 7a without the wave but I havnt ever handled a waveless emerson and im wondering how comfortable it is without.

I really like my 7a! It's taken the place of my Sheepdog for the most part.

I prefer to thumb open my knife rather than use a wave.

Welp 4 in a row for waveless! Thats unusual ln bladeforums... All Right waveless it is!

Thanks for the hell!

Help not hell* lol

On the wave:

I see the wave as part of the charm (fun, novel, addictive, fast), but would like to add a waveless 7A to my rotation as well.

I also consider the wave an opening mechanism, and i don't want to get too rusty while i rely on them. Which is a lot lately, since my 7AW has been my primary carry for months ! Nice, versatile blade, neutral handle that doesn't limit your grip, and STYLE !

So, some great reasons to get the waveless. Specially if a guy has some others to wave.

Anyway, just my .02 worth. The only truly correct answer is to somehow own both, which will probably be inevitable once you use the 7A anyways. Personally, im already planning a few future knives with the wave removed straight from EKI. The far future.

A biased answer, but hopefully a bit of help in between the lines. Heh. Good luck.

Thx.

* EDIT Haha glad you sorted it out. Next time, I'll be looking closer before i type up a soliloquy to post. Just gonna leave this here. *

So there's a 7AW on the exchange as i type this. No pressure. Heh.

Wave is ugly.

Personally I prefer the 7 without the wave.

Yes it is somewhat ugly but I love the wave feature. From a practical standpoint I like that it provides the extra option for opening. I have a few Kershaw Emersons (4KXL) and Zero Tolerance Emersons (0630) and I find that I also like the extra purchase it provides for the thumb. My only problem is that while they allow Kershaw Emersons and Zero Tolerance folders to be imported into Australia and sold in shops (go figure?), Australian Customs haven't as yet allowed any Emersons to be imported. Thus I don't own any Emersons let alone a 7a. One very silly Customs official even recently categorized any folder with a thumb stud as an automatic knife!
