TOOK 4 KNIVES OUT TO PLAY ON 4 OCT 2012

TOPS APACHE DAWN(TRIED TO SELL IT--AND GLAD IT DID NOT SELL)

TOPS BOB--NEW TO ME(BOUGHT USED FOR $70)

BECKER CAMPANION WITH G-10 GRIPS BY BILL SIEGLE--BEST FEELING KNIFE OF THE 4

BECKER CREWMAN WITH MICARTA GRIPS-BEST KNIFE DEAL I EVER GOT.GOT THE KNIFE-2 SHEATHS AND THE CUSTOM GRIPS FOR $45 DELIVERED

THE TOPS BOB WAS THE BEST CARVER--BUT WORST CHOPPER-

GOING TO TWEAK THE HANDLE AND BLADE SOME TO MAKE IT MORE COMFORTABLE

THE APACHE DAWN WAS THE BEST CHOPPER AND SECOND BEST CARVER(HAD A CONVEX EDGE PUT ON IT)

THE BECKERS ARE BOTH GOOD-BUT AT DIFFERENT THINGS

THE CAMPANION IS A BETTER CHOPPER BUT TOO HEAVY FOR EXTENDED CARVING(COMPARED TO THE CREWMAN)

OF THESE 4 I WOULD PICK THE APACHE DAWN AS THE OVERALL WINNER

WITH THE CHOIL I CAN CHOKE UP ON IT AS WELL AS PUT MY HAND WAY BACK ON THE GRIP FOR BETTER CHOPPING

IT DOES THE MOST THINGS BETTER THAN THE OTHERS DO

THE TOPS BOB IS A OUTSTANDING CARVING/WHITTLEING KNIFE--BUT A LOUSY CHOPPER---AS IN THE WORST 5" BLADED KNIFE I EVER TESTED--:thumbdn:

BUT IT'S COMFORTABLE AND WORTH YOU CHECKING OUT IF YOU WANT A STURDY KNIFE YOU DO NOT PLAN TO CHOP A LOT WITH

I LIKE THE BECKER CREWMAN BETTER THAN THE CAMPANION EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO CHOPPING WITH BOTH OF THEM

It looks like you had a fun time out testing your knives. Sounds like you got some great deals too.

Blade testing days are fun! Been eying that Tops for a while.
Is that a horse, mule and goat I see?

Awsome pics, man--I have been looking at the BOB as well...seems like one I'd like to have. However, the only relevant question here is "How did you get that Crewman for $45??"

Yes Sir---
The man that owns the 100 acres is a patient of mine and he has many animals on the land
Some days they come to check me out--other days I never see any of them

As far as the Crewman the other forum member asked me about--it was 3 years ago (at least) and the seller wanted to sell it all as a package.

It was a knifemaker on these forums-but I can not recall who.He makes GREAT grips.

Love the post and review Doc. Thanks . Boy that cur dog is growing.

Nice post Bill, looks like you had fun. Thanks, I have been thinking about an Apache Dawn for some time. I like the profile...but am also looking at the Comanche Hawk to try out a different blade geometry. I know guys who would give their eye teeth to get a deal on a crewman like you got!

It's a Camillus Version as well

I love the Grips the maker put on it even more than the knife itself

Best knife deal I ever got

Well, if you ever decide to part with it just talk to the guys in the Becker forum. it probably won't take long :)

That tractor is cool. My dad had one just like it for awhile.
