Took a chopper to a slicer... any idea how?

Ok, so I've been using my JK knife more often lately. Wanted to dull up the blade & convex it so i did it all in one shop. Loved how the blade came out, smooth, clean and brushed steel look. But the convexing was horrible. So i threw it on my sharpmaker and brought it all back over a few hours yesterday. Have the original grinds on the blade, i think? It now will split hair, where as before it would cut, but was more of a chopper. Now it's rediculously sharp. Any idea exactly what i did? Did i just end up refining the edge, or was the grind possibly off before this? I like it now, it's 01, with both the 30 and 40 degree grinds on it, do you think the 01 will hold up to tough use with this type of edge now? I'll mainly be shaving wood, cutting cat tails and vines and stuff and fishing duty.

Sounds like you took the edge down to a more acute angle. Whenever I get a knife with an edge that doesn't quite cut the way I like, I'll put an acute primary bevel on the edge and finish off with a secondary bevel that's a little wider, similar to the concept of microbevels. Works well enough.

I found that on the right side of the knife, the edge isn't as defined/cut into the steel as the left side. Is that fine? They both basically look to be able the same angle (size wise) but one just looks like it has more of a shoulder.
