I took some pics of a few knives from the batch this am, thought I'd post.

Here are a couple of pics of Rapscallions with Gamblers.

Gorgeous! Now I'm gonna need a Rapscallion, and that Hermit is just amazing!!

Nice work those are some amazing looking knives. I really like the lime green burlap micarta. Keep up the good work!

I'm glad yall like it. That's why I do it.

It was suggested that I make a bigger version of these models, so I think yall can expect a chopper drawing next week.

Damn, with that forward mass the chopper will be bad ass. One of he main reasons I want a Rapscallion, other than it's just plain bad ass all around, is how I see that forward mass working in quick snap cuts in briers or in small green saplings for cooking sticks. I don't do a lot of chopping these days. It's too noisy and scares everything I am trying to study off. But I do need to remove the occasional briers, and I do like to roast hot dogs and sausages over a fire. I am going to have to get one of these before mid autumn :)

I think it's begging to be made into a two handed short sword.

Ha. Like a sword made by that huge sword fella on TV.

Andy,

If you have any blemishes or seconds of these new models. May I beg to borrow one from you for a model?

Jason

We haven't had many lately Jason, but I'll send you one if I screw one up.

Thanks so much Andy. I know sometimes you find cracks in blades that you didn't see until the end - or something that just doesn't pass muster. I will send it back when done modelling it.

Frankly, I wish I could own one of nearly every one of what you make. ;)

I like the blade geometry of the Rapscallion just the way it is, but depending on how long you make this chopper, I think if you dropped the belly a little bit right below the swedge without dropping the edge much at all at the handle, it would allow for more forward mass and good inertia development, without detracting from the control of the edge in finer work done closer to the handle. But this is just my opinion, and may not fit the aesthetic you are going for. It's just one thing I have learned from using long knives (blades in the 10 inch or so range) with edges that are dropped quite a bit at the handle, is that the leverage created by the dropped edge can become fatiguing to the wrist in extended periods of use in primitive living type uses. Like in making large stakes or spears, where you chop and sharpen with the same tool, or in cutting and cleaning saplings for shelter members. But like I said, it's just one opinion.

As promised. A big ass chopper version...
