Well dispite the low-hung grey clouds and the ever-present giant rain drops I just couldn't take another weekend in the house. So the wife wanted to go up to Gifford and collect some rocks for her fifth graders Father's Day gifts (painted paper weights). All in all it was a nice day, warm but wet. Thought I would share some pics.

Can't forget my new RAT7

Looks like nice country. What did you think of your new RAT7? Did you get to use it for much?

I like the RAT7, good strong knife. I didn't really use it for anything except the picture.

Very cool. I sure wish we had more streams and rivers around here. I really like relaxing by them.

Great photos, very beautiful landscape you have there. I love seeing other areas of the country.

SnakeDoc,

Nice pics!
Was that "Gifford" as in Gifford Pinchot Nat. Forest?
Where 'bouts in Washington are you?

Cheers,

River-8,

You are correct! Gifford is the only place close to home where my soul feels free! I live in Fisher's Landing, Mill Plian & I205 area. I travel up thru Battle Ground & Amboy to get to Gifford. Where are you located?

I envy you guys that have the ability to walk out their back yard or few mile away to get to that. Jersey is so flat and bland.

Thanks for sharing the great photos with those of us who don't live where we can see things like that. Now, who had to carry the rocks home for your wife's class project? :D

I carried the rocks, and I washed them when we got home! But I did score a nice back-rub for me efforts!! :D :D

Snakedoc,
I live in Salmon Creek, Wa. My wife has a stepped garden in our back yard. We have carried many, many truck loads of rocks out of the GP. We own a cabin neat Mt. St. Helens and spend many weekends up there. I do fish. There are some truly magnificient "Trophy Only" trout rivers (N. Fork Lewis) and steelhead rivers (Wind River) in the GP. My Brother In Law was a long time Guide (now retired). He spends alot of time fly fishing with several of his old guide buddies on the North Fork. The peak in your picture looks like Lone Butte? Listen to River8, he knows alot about the area and woodscraft.
