Got to get some woods time this weekend with Kamy, my middle daughter.

Kamy is one of the best kids in the world. As some of you know, my oldest daughter has Down syndrome. Kamy is her guiding light. She helps her get into and out of school, helps her pick her clothes, brush her teeth, helps her with her breakfast at school...... She's just so beyond her 6 years. She's also a huge help with her little sister Beaver. She wants so bad to be able to change diapers by herself. She's a nurturer through and through, patient to a fault and just an amazing kid.

She reminds me so much of her mother at times I can't help but to laugh.

Anyway, she also lives for woods walks with her daddy. We have a blast talking about life and checking out all the cool stuff that nature has to offer. I can tell she'll be my woods buddy for a good long time.

She's ever ready while out in the bush.:D

We got to spend some quality time with some red imported fireants. These are the Izula ants of Texas. I think they should be made the state bug, bird and tree there are so many of them. If you've never had the pleasure of meeting these little bastards your really missing out on one of life's greatest joys.

Kamy took down her first tree with the Izula.

Thanks for looking!

Very cool!

She sounds like a very special person.

I can so see the resemblance to her mother!

I don't have any little ones myself, but I really look forward to spending "woods

time" with my little boy/girl.

Thanks for sharing

Very nice!!!

Children are the meaning of life.

You are giving her memories she'll cherish for life, and I'm sure she's doing the same for you.

Very cool Shotty. My youngest brother has downs, great kid, fun to hang around with. He's had a rough life, leakema when he was 3, but wouldn't want him any other way.

Glad you got a woods buddy, my son is 3 not into the woods unless its on a 4wheeler...but ill get him there.

She looks like a great kid! Really knows her way out there -- just wait, in a couple of years, she will be leading your hikes. :D

A six year old with a knife is competely foolish and irresponsible! Yeah right, thats great man. My three year old will be getting her pink Izula soon. I can't wait. She is learning to make fire sticks with a Mora triflex bushcraft knife already. Beautiful daughter, looks like a daddy's girl.

What a great kid! She sounds very responsible and grown beyond her years. I also think it's neat that you have a daughter named Beaver. Is that her real name? That's the coolest name for a kid I've heard in a long time. Kamy is unique, too.

We have Mykaela, Kamryn and Hayden. AKA, Kaela-bear, Kam-a-kam and Beaver.

Poor Beaver, that kid hardly knows her real name.:D

Awesome shots Mike, reminds me I need to get Alayna out in the woods again soon....and hopefully keep her away from the mushrooms this time...

Kamy sounds like a very sweet young lady. We have 3 at our house - a bit older - 21,23, and 24. I remember those days so well. Nothing like daughters in the house to brighten up your day when you come home from work. Cherish those kids, they are out of the house before you know it. Bridgette, Maggie and Erins Uncle John(my wifes brother) has Downs and the girls love to shower him with attention. Bridgette(oldest) is in the same town as her G&G and Uncle John. She likes to go by and pick him up for a date nite at Braums for dinner and ice cream. John thinks the world of the girls - they always get Christmas and B-day cards with a little cash from him. He gets awfully excited when they/we come to visit. I really enjoyed your post and pics -brought back a lot of old memories.

That's awesome man. My girl goes with me all the time(she's 9) loves it. Wrapped her pink Izzy w/ od para.;-)

This thread made me feel weird inside.....like.... all warm and stuff.
Thanks for making me feel human again hubs.

Awww, great work Dad. Spending time with your kiddos is the best thing a dad can do. No one can ever take that time away from you. :D
