So i took apart my Ka-Bar Dozier so i could reverse my pocket clip, and for some reason i decided to take out the other screw. Now im having trouble putting the screws back in. I accidentally swaped the screws and the flat stud is on the reverse side. The problem im having is i cannot unscrew the flat stud because now its just slipping. Any Suggestions?

This is how it should look.

Your screwed bud.

just kidding,....what's slipping? Do you have the correct size allen wrench? If the threads aren't engaged can't you grab the screw with some needle noses or something? Then put it back together like you found it. Good luck.

I am no expert but it looks like you have the Pivot screw in the end where the pocket clip goes. Might want to put that back up where the blade hinges.

i have the correct size torx screw, its the actual pivot bolt its shaped like a D but much much rounder almost a complete circle. i think the side i put the pivot bolt is perfectly round while the other side is made to keep the pivot bolt from spinning. i can really grab the pivot bolt because its circle shaped. Im not sure but the screws might be different lengths too. its just a theory though

they both are pivot bolts, just one has the clip attached to it, the pivot bolt for the hinge is in the correct place it should be on the underside of the blade.

So you've got your clip screw in your pivot hole...can you pry gently between the surface of the handle and the flat underside of the screw? If the threads haven't engaged with anything it's just wedged in there, should come right out.

the clip screw also has a pivot nut. The "clip side" has an indent for the actual clip to go in(refer to the pictures). so theres no problems there, minus i put the wrong screw on it, im not sure if it matters.

Lets call one side of the blade A and flip it over side B. The Pivot nut originally goes on side A, i put it on side B. Im not sure if the side B hole has the stopper for it not to pivot. it might be round and since the thread has engaged im kinda stuck =/

So when you took it apart you switched the part of the Pivot that does NOT have the hex hole?

OK, I'm back, so the pivot NUT is spinning?? If so find a way to stop that from happening. You can do it!! Don't make me get my 7 year old daughter and have her show you how to do this.

thats my theory =x, i think the hex hole is on fliped side. now i gotta figure out how to unscrew it since its already engaged.

Can you epoxy an allen wrench to it, then use that to twist once the epoxy is dry?

Vice grips and a couple of nylon/leather/rubber pieces the size of a dime.

Put the dime size piece of whatever you chose, over the slipping head, gently apply the vice grips. Please, go slow and take the jaws in a very little each time until it holds, unscrew, reverse the bolt and sleeve, repeat for each. if you use a dense nylon, you will have to make sure there is a piece between the vice grip jaws and the bolt head.

There is another way, and I suggest it as a last resort, contact KABAR and PURCHASE a new set of screws. It won't cost much. Take a Dremel with a cutting wheel, and cut a slot in the slipping sleeve, use a flathead screwdriver to disassemble, and then put the new hardware in the right way.

Good luck and let us know how it goes

so i gave it to my dad to do, cause i had to study, and he did it for me. he used a vice grip, i guess pliers wasnt a good idea haha. he ended up fixing everything...kinda. he switched the screws for me, but he forgot to take the hex nut and put it on the right side. even so he some how managed to tighten it. its a shame thought, cause he tightened it too much. its hard to flip it open now =/ and i dont see a way to unscrew it to give it more play.

well, buy another one :)

use a dremel tool to make a flat screw slot :)

yup i think im gonna go buy another one. good thing they are well priced, but now i have an excuse to get the mule lol

Be sure and check out the Undead one, its not gonna get lost
