i have a CF stretch and i wanted to take it apart and clean it up a bit. now i can't quite put it back together again. i cant get the two back screws to sit in flush from either side. i believe this voids my warranty? any suggestions?

I don't know about the warranty, but work with it a little and it should kinda click together. It may take a little repositioning.

Maybe those screws are only intended to go in from one side. On mine, with the knife closed and the tip pointing to the right, you are looking at the top of the screw heads. When installed correctly, they are below the surface of the CF.

Don't panic. :) It will go back together correctly once you figure it out.

no luck, the screws wont line up with the liners. this is the last time i ever take a backlock apart.

Are you trying to get them in with the blade installed? I have had decent luck putting handle together and then putting blade in.

There are also some videos on YouTube with tricks to put Spyderco lockbacks together. I think the one I saw was a delica but should be similar. If I find it I will post here.

got a video link in the spyderco forums and was able to get the knife back together again

Why would taking a knife apart, especially to clean it void your warranty? I've heard this mentioned before.

Because there are some people who do not know how to reassemble them properly, resulting in damages to the screws, backspacer, spring etc etc. It's pretty simple taking apart a knife with backlock, but putting it back together is tough. But if u can reassemble your knife back without damaging any part, i believe Spyderco wouldn't care (or they wouldn't know). If your knife fail for some other reasons, Spyderco will definitely take care of it as long as you use your knife with proper respect.
