It came in the mail on Thursday, what can I say but wow! This is a truly massive knife. 18"OA,12" blade, blade is 1/4" thick and 2 5/16" wide. The blade came hair popping sharp.I also had the false edge sharpened, while not quite a sharp as the main edge it's close and cuts acceptably well. The balance point is 1 1/2" in front of the hilt.the handle is black micarta, nicely designed and offers a very secure grip. The handle ends in a point, gives it a skull crusher effect, with a lanyard hole.
I don't have a scale so I don't know the weight,it is hefty. It's fast for it's size slashing and back strokes are devastating ,the blade changes direction quickly. The knife is awesome at stabbing.I didn't get the brass guard, the handle is shaped to prevent the hand from slipping forward. The blade is packarized.I haven't chopped much yet but it'll go through 11/2" limbs (green) in one clean cut.
This knife has a no nonsense, all business look to it. John Gonzalez is great to work with and Ted Frizzel makes an awesome knife. If your looking for a large knife, you owe it to your self to look at the MMHW line of bowies. You can't beat the price. My next purchase will be one of thier semi- custom fighters.
John,Ted if you're out there thanks!

Congrats. Ted does excellent work at an excellent price. You could chop for days with any one of his Bowies.

Also take a look at Dervish Knives (website: http://www.dervishknives.com/knives.htm ). The knives are designed and finished by John Gonzalez, and the blades are profiled, ground and heat-treated by Ted Frizzell.

I should be receiving the first Triton and a Golem in a few days, and will post my initial impressions as soon as I get a chance to do so...

Hey, Stoneage, please give us an update once you get a chance to use the knife a bit more.

Thanks,
Josh
