Woohoo! first post as a beckerhead!

Today I got to head into the woods with more than a few beckers (that pack was heavy ). In all I had ten knives in my pack, seven of those were beckers…

Got to use my blackjack BRK for the first time. That thing is a monster of a blade! Can't wait for the new one to come out, I think it will be nice to have one a little thicker.

However, I ended up chopping up a storm with my favorite knife: the bk4 machax. Used my camillus bk9 a bit as well. Still like the 4 better. I was able to feather stick great with the bk4 not the bk9. More control and the recurve helps.

Anyway, I tried some hockey grip tape on my bk4 and didn't like it. I'm thinking about using work gloves from now on when it comes to chopping. I know a bunch of people here use work gloves with their beckers. This is probably a silly question, but do any brands stand out among the rest? I really cant stand bulky gloves, they need to be a good fit. The becker handles are great as is. The tape on bk4 was not really for grip but to fatten up the handle and palm swell. I think making some plastic liners and using gloves will help the problem.

I miss the thicker camillus handles (and blades).

Gettin' those Bad Boys out in the fresh air - cooool!

Jealous...I was stuck in the office all day. As far as gloves go, I have an inexpensive pair I picked up at one of the big box home improvement stores (can't recall which) that I like. The brand name is Firm Grip and the "model" is the Trademaster. Finger tips and palm are reinforced with leather. I think I paid $10-$12 for them.

That RBK hanging from the tree made me tingle a little bit.

I frequent 'mechanix' gloves in the winter time. They have the dexterity and slight added grip I want, and are pretty light.

They're knockoffs of the "Tradewater" gloves. Better for most folks though, the Tradewaters cost 10,000,000 dollars and are made of gold and unobtanium.

Nice to see some knives in the woods. Need some more pics of that RBK at work.....

As for gloves, I like the original Ironclad brand; sewn in a natural hand shape and reasonably long lasting. Other option would be a nice pair of deerskin gloves. If you are in the market for some Camillus grips, shoot me an email (best) or pm.....I don't suffer from oversize hands and find them a little on the girth-y side - maybe we can work a trade. Or shower pan liner liners....cheap from the Despot and add about the same as Cam Grivory would be (~1/32" per side).
How lucky you are to have an RBK! Although I will say that I enjoy my Machax, too.....it's a great all-rounder, tho I don't feel it chops as well as the King. Thanks for the pic....but there need to be more.

After hanging out in here for so long, half the time when I see them, I think they say "Tradewater."

But you must be mistaken: there is no Tradewater line of gloves. Trade doesn't need gloves. [emoji2]

No, of course not. Tradewater doesn't endorse the gloves, someone just saw an obvious money making idea and hopped on it. I hear the guy died a few days later due to Tradewater induced failure of all internal organs.

Nice pic kj!
I have to agree with you. I enjoy using my 4 over my 9 too.
God....I'm ready for an RBK!!

As far as gloves go, I like thin leather gloves with a semi-tight fit.
I know Ethan loves the yellow Lamonts. Soft suede or whatever it is.
Any of those Mechanix style gloves work well too.

My favorite work gloves are Carheart. Wally-World used to have the same glove for half the cost, but those went away years ago. Also, need more pics. And, I'm a Machax lover as well.
