My sister is visiting from England so I took her up a local mountain.

She was a little worried after seeing the info board !

It was a super hot, humid day, made the gnarly trail even tougher.

Started to gain some height.

Stopping to take in the view !

Stopping because she said she was gonna throw up !

Yeah think she did throw up !

Me and Snicker checking out the view !

Yay made it !

Rewarded by some great views.

When we got back down to the bottom we were lucky enough to see this Raccoon foraging in the river, other than keeping an eye on where Snicker was he couldn't have cared less !

Awesome. Looks like a fun trip. Trying to get my wife into backpacking and saving the car camping for larger get togethers with family and friends.

The lack of mention of the lovely Mrs. Pit on a "gnarly" mountain trail on a "super hot, humid day" suggests she is the brains of the outfit???? :D

Doc

Hahahaha.....very true Doc although she did say that she was a little jealous being stuck in an office working, I told her she would have hated it !

At least she has managed to get some time off to join us on some of the hikes !

Looks like a great time, except for the throwing up part. I always enjoy seeing people, families, getting out and enjoying nature and even more so when they bring their dog along. Great looking Jack Russell!

Thanks for sharing!!

p.s.
by "super hot, humid day" do you mean 85 - 90* F.? Or are you talking Texas heat? It was 102* yesterday and is supposed to get up to 104* today. But the humidity usually burns off by noon to around 40-50% so not that bad. Right?

Yeah not quite Texas heat, LOL !!!

Someone messaged me asking about Maisy, she is still with us and still thinks she is a young pup but unfortunately old age really has taken it's toll on her in recent months.
Big walks are out of the question so it's just a plod around the local dog parks or a swim whenever possible as in this pic from last week !

As long as she's enjoying life, good for her!

Hey Pit, I forgot to add, just in case you didn't know, never let your dogs chase a racoon into water. They will grab it's head and stand on it, drowning your dog.

Yes they will. My father used to breed and train Weimereiners before I was born. He lost two dogs in one year because of racoons. I remember him telling me about it when I was about 8 years old and we were talking about getting a dog. Man I haven't thouhgt about that in a long long time.

Good to know, I held Snicker back anyway just because I know how vicious they are.

Lovely thread Pit. I did the the same thing out there a few times, years ago. I found that it was almost harder to go down than up, as the legs were shot. The blueberries were huge and half frozen. And once in a while I'd see a den hole, which spooked me. I hiked around Glacier\Revelstoke, it was rough going.

Very cool! Tell your Sis not to worry about tossing her biscuits - the air is thinner on this side of the pond!
