Today went with the family on a hike to the near by waterfall, and decided to take the ASHBM with me to see how it will do against some threes.

I am newbie in the chopping with knife business and definitely need practice to be more efficient.

Here my thoughts on the performance from today.

Stock edge is usable, not great but decent IMHO, the knife has some serious bite, after quite a few swings I had to work to get it out of the wood. I think a bit f tweaking will make this knife one hell of a chopping machine (it is almost there as it is). The handle is comfortable and just about right for my hands, I wear large gloves. Weight is a bit on the heavy side, and swinging this much INFI can get tiresome, but with modified edge this will be no issue as the knife would chop really well.
I did a thin 3-4" three and about half of a ~8" one.
Here some pics and videos.

A big dead centipede

I have never seen a beetle like this one before. It was towing another one with him.

Are you sure that was a beetle? Looks like it could be an ant.

you are correct now that I look at the pic, looks like an ant, but man that thing was like 1" long.
Curious what was it.
EDIT:
Googled it, it was an Oil Beetle or Blister beetle

Great pictures and sharing looks like a blast.

I do have one question though that seemed to be a pretty populated/high traffic area. Did you get any funny looks wielding that beast of a knife around all the sheeple?

Probably, I did not pay much attention.
I know one of the guys that passed by when I cut the thinner three, had a big fixed blade with him.

Gosh, I love hiking! I can't wait for it to warm up so I can get out there. I picture myself taking a Boss Jack, seems like an awesome hike knife for a gal. :)
satin with blue and black G10....

Thats cool I was just curious as I've had some pretty funny encounters with people on the trail.
Thanks again for sharing.
