Got my first SnG over the weekend plus got a 3" XM-18 coming this week from a recent flash sale. The pivots on these two are different sizes, and I'm looking for an aftermarket option that'll work for both of them. With some research I've came across the following two items and was wondering if anyone has used either of these for both of these knives.

Other than dremeling a coin, what are some other options you've seen or used for these two?

Hate to say it but:

Never owned one, but I've heard multiple people say you don't need a spanner to remove the pivot on a Hinderer.

Ive had three xm's and have never needed a spanner bit to do anything with the pivot. But i do own the hinderer spanner tool just in case. Works well. I also have an sng and it works great for that. Only downside is the spanner tool is fairly expensive. But it works

I've heard nothing but thumb pressure can be used against the slotted pivot side on both knives. I'd think a spanner would be more necessary if loctite is on the pivot which I've heard Strider uses.

I didn't need the spanner for my Hinderer either. But I also had to deal with it loosening itself up after a day of use. Put loctite on the pivot so I'll be glad to have my tool when it's time for maintenance again.

I got the Park Tool chainring nut wrench CNW-2, and narrowed the middle post with a file. It works great on my sng pivot screw. 5.00 .

For my two hinderers I use a dime, or a flat blade screwdriver, no fancy tools necessary, but they are cool to have

There is a tool for both at monkey edge. It is one tool that works for both knives. I had one of my Striders with loctite on it. It was good for me to have the right tool to prevent scratching it up

There is a spanner tool here, that works on an xm18 and a strider pivot. Made of titanium and looks like a guitar, too.

The best tool I have found is the PSD(believe deluxe) tool . They make 2 -one for the Strider only and another that works on both Striders and XM-18. I don't know if rules allow me to name the knife dealer who sells them, so google PSD tool for strider and XM-18 and you should come up with it. Hinderer makes tools for each, but the PSD is less costly-believe the PSD was $65 and fits great. I have used some of the homemade ones before but you do risk slipping and putting a nice scratch on the pivot. I did this once preparing for a shipment to Canada-nothing like putting a scratch on a knife you just sold someone to make your day-Oh well life goes on.
