Tool steel BUCK knives - any on the way?

Jeff,

I must say that I am impressed with the Master Series. This appears to be a good honest effort to appeal to a more discriminating customer who is looking at the details when knife shopping.

With the various new models that have come out in recent times, BUCK appears to be making a good effort to capture the smaller segments of the market that are not willing (or can't afford) to pay a custom maker for their ideal knife.

This leads me to the question of - Will BUCK offer a similar line to the Master Series in a good solid tool steel sort of like Benchmade is trying to do with the M-2 steel knives that have seen limited distribution so far?

Thanks,
Sid Post

Sid,
no plans on M2...
We are looking very hard at all the speciality steels and the markets for such...

I liked Bucks back when they were using 440C that was made up for them at the Cyclops mill in PA (?). The last few I've had out of 425 I've not been empressed with and have gone over to Bench Made and Cold Steel for ease of carrying. - Brian

I must admit that the few Bucks that I bought back in the late-70's/early-80's seemed to hold an edge just a little bit better than the later ones I have bought, in the mid-to-late 80's, and early 90's. I read somewhere that Buck used to use 440A <?!>, before going to the 425 Mod? I wouldn't have believed that 440A would hold an edge as well as the ones that I used to have.

That's the second time, recently, that I have read that Buck once used 440c.....
I have never believed that to be the case. Am I wrong ?
