Tool Steel Production Folders

Hey guys, i'm new here, hope this is the right place for this thread. I am looking for a production folder that uses tool steel other than D2, something along the lines of 10xx, 52100, O1, etc., and I am having some difficulty finding one. I forge tool steel knives and I have developed a bias for the ease of sharpening that they offer. I maintain my knives well and have little need for the lack of maintenance that stainless allows. I have carried many stainless knives over the years from the usual suspects (Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, CRK&T, Cold Steel, Gerber, etc.), but I want a tool steel knife for the reason I mentioned above. D2 is the only steel that I found that even came close to what I am looking for, but it still contains 11% chromium and is pretty darn close to stainless. I have researched most of the bigger companies and come up short, I would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.

Would the CV (chrome vanadium) steel from Case be any good?
It's the same that Cold Steel used in their Carbon V knives.

That appears to be disputed by reputable people on both sides of the issue.

Some swear it is and others just as vehemently that it is not.

Regardless, the CV is good steel.

That was fast! Thanks for the responses so far, I should have been more specific in that I was looking for a folder more of the pocket clip/thumb stud variety. I may be interested in a few of the Moore Maker knives though, they look pretty sweet. Esav, I liked the Carbon V in a trailmaster that I have, I will check out the Case knives.

Looking more closely at where I posted this, it may be more appropriate for the general blade forum. Could a moderator help me move this post?

It's a tough one in the style you want...maybe a custom maker?

Bark River is planning a folder and that will likely be in A2

There are 1095 folders but we are in folksy territory here:D No clips:eek:

I would get one of the M2 BM's but I called Benchmade and they told me that the knives that used M2 had been discontinued because they were brittle. D2 has taken it's place at BM. M2 is darn tough stuff, im assuming it was their heat treat that failed. I would still buy a BM 710HS if I could find one, but they are pretty much gone. I will keep an eye out for the Bark River, thanks for the tip.

Well, it's not production, but the Greco Whisper is a nice looking knife, and I love John Greco knives. I have no idea about the 8670 steel, but John wrote once "...like the 8670 we use, also from Europe, it's like a 1085 with a lot of extra chrome and nickel". He is a great guy who builds awesome knives.
