i recently aquired an old combo disc sander // belt sander.

ToolKraft Model # 335 JKW from 50s or 60s.

i'm planning to use it with a smaller disc. this one is 9 inches....

also has a 6 x 48 belt.

has 3/4 hp motor.

i'd be interested to know what kind of spray adhesives you all would recommend to attach sand paper to the disc?

also who may carry a smaller disc for this machine?

thanks all...

many people use feathering adhesive. it sticks, but not so much that you rip off the paper when removing it, so you can re-use the discs of sandpaper. you can use a regular 9x11 sheet of sandpaper, stick it to the disc, and trim around the edges with a sharp knife. its more economical than discs with adhesive already on them.

I just paid $19.95 for a tube of 3-M Feathering Disc Adhesive in Vancouver, WA. Did he rip me off? His story about the price is that all the paper mfgers. have gone to self-stick paper so 3-M quit making their feather disc adhesive.

hi tim. its $18.99 on amazon, so with shipping you are right in the ball park ;) it costs more than a tube of glue, but with the price of the sanding discs with the adhesive already on them, and the fact you cannot re-use them because they rip when removing it still saves lots of money, and time from cleaning the face of the disc.

Why would you want a smaller disc? Bigger is better, 9" is kind of the standard in knifemaking. As far as disc, the purple 3m ceramic disc like this - https://trugrit.com/index.php?main_...d=5837&zenid=976f63a3998466644a16f100b725757f
work out to be just as economical as regular sandpaper because they last so much longer.
