Cool Stuff! Thanks for posting the link. OK, I just have to know what you use a 18" x 5' x 12' granite surface plate for?

It has a perfectly flat surface. It`s used to detect bow in parts. It also comes in handy for sanding the high spots out of a surface, say the side of a scale that will mate with the tang of a knife. You tape sandpaper down on the surface plate and rub whatever you want to flatten on the paper.

Well Andrew, a 12'x5' polished granite flat would make a pretty cool coffee table for a big room.

At 18" thick, you wouldn't even have to put legs under it, nor would it blow away in the high MPH desert winds like we get here.

Just kidding.

Must be for bigger precision part checking than most of us see. I used to work in a shop that had granite flats 3 or 4 feet square and thought they were big!
