Toothier With Time?

Will corrosion on a blade from moisture such as that in air or perspiration cause an edge to become toothier? A knife of AUS-8 that I've never really used to do much cutting, but that I've carried somewhat often for two years, seems toothier now than I remember it once being.
 
Chipping damage can increase slicing aggression on a heavily worn edge, so yes it is possible.
