toothpaste as stropping paste?

would it work?

Yes it would. It wouldn't be very consistent though as it's used to polish teeth by removing layers of plaque. They use glass & sand as the abrasive in toothpaste, and the micron amount is probably pretty high. Higher than flitz and things like that.

Yes, it would work, especially if you mix a teaspoon or so of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda in it. Baking soda is a fantastic polishing and/or ultra fine stropping compound.

Crest Toothpaste works, tried it on my straight razors. I still like diamond paste best but it's very expensive. I should try that Walmart stuff.

what color do most diamond pastes come in? I have an unidentified paste that is somewhat tan in color.

I've polished an old pipe stem with toothpaste. Since it was something that I was going to stick in my mouth, toothpaste seemed like the best option.

Toothpaste scratches silver!

I once cleaned a silver wine goblet with a toothbrush and toothpaste to remove bad tarnishing.

It scratched the hell out of the finish!!!
