Toothpick Red Pick Bone

Post this question in the Traditional Knives forum, and those guys will know for sure!

Bone handles for toothpick knives and other slip-joints are usually made of bone from cattle shins. As far as "pick bone", pick may be a process to texture the bone. I know this is the case with "jigged" bone. I really don't know; however I see knives advertised as either "pick bone" or "jigged bone" So maybe pick is a separate method or style than jigging.
