Toothpicks 'n Tweezers and ..... ?

A couple of months ago I started carrying a Wenger Esquire (basically a clone of the Vic Classic). I always knew how handy a small knife blade could be, but had no idea how much use I would get out of the 'pick & tweezer - kinda thought they were gimmicky and would never get used. I was wrong!

The toothpick is better than the regular wood ones, not to mention that it's always with me. The little bit of flex it has, plus the flatter end, works great for cleaning between teeth. And I've used the tweezers quite a few times too, and in situations where nothing else would have done the job at hand.

So ..... what are some of the tools on a SAK that you thought you'd never use much, but now find quite useful?

I often used the awl on my old Soldier to open things, to avoid damaging the blade. Later I found out that the awl works also very nice to make round holes in wood, so you can put a cord through it.

the can opener... i've used the head screwdriver more than i thought...

also the nailfile... never thought its gonna that useful!

The SD nailfile blade of my classic has been unbelievable in versitility. It's been used to fix things from a clothes dryer, to door locks, to removing the side plate on S&W revolvers to get at the lockwork for cleaning.

The tweezers have been used for getting ticks off of Pearl The Wonder Corgi, getting a thorn out from between paw pads, getting sliver splinters out of me, and using the very tip of one end of them to snug up the tiny phillips screws on a pair of sunglasses.

Of course the little pen blade is used for all kinds of cutting.

The awl on my wenger SI. I use it more than the blade even. Poke, prod, pierce, rip, slice and drill. Ime sure it does more if u really think about it but it makes my head hurt to do that.

Even though I own over 150 multitools and SAKs I would have to say the wood saw. When I got my first SAK, a Camper, I rarely ever used the saw. I'm a bit older now and I use the saws quite a bit. I use them to strike firesteels (works phenomenally), prune stuff in the garden, and just for other tasks when I'm in the woods etc. Hell, today I used the saw on my Victorinox Spirit X to clear out a little fishing spot at a local lake. They are not chainsaws but they work very well for their size.
