I can get a mirror-polish hair-whittling edge on my BM943 with my Shapton Glass stones (have all grits up to 8k) but I'd like some tooth!

I thought about grabbing some 1micron diamond spray for my roo strop, but I figured I'd ask you folks first.

Any suggestions?

Which Shapton stones do you own? The Shapton Pro 1K leaves a very aggressive edge.

I'm still figuring out how to get an edge I like in S30V. If you want toothy, 8k stones plus a 1 micron strop aren't going to do it I think.Need to finish your stones much lower.

I have been playing with DMT coarse then 1 micron diamond spray, and 600 grit of the wicked edge and diamond spray. Still haven't figured out what I like better yet, but either one is much better for me than finishing at 2000K grit off the Spyderco Ultra fine like I used to.

I just sharpened up my Millie in S30V last night. I did a EZE-lap super fine 1200 grit followed by stropping on leather with 3 micron paste. It is definitely toothy, took a look at it under a microscope at work.

I also sharpened my GB1 on 1000 and 6000 king stones. No tooth and that sucker wipes hair off my leg, which the millie won't do at its current finish. Funny thing is the millie feels sharper when I do the three finger test. Teeth bite!

I would recommend stopping at the 500 and finish with a little stropping.
