I want to setup a poll where you can vote for one of only 20 Benchmade knives (forum limit is 20 choices). The inspiration is Benchmade's Facebook Bracket Battle (see picture below).

What top 20 should we include? I'm sure I'm missing some!

Your 20 would be close to mine, most of my favorites are represented. I would add the 705 and remove the 300, add the Snody family in place of the Adamas family. I would leave out both the Emissary and Triage family and add something else like the 805 Tsek family. ...gee, this can get one thinking huh? Thanks for the post!

I put 300 in there only to fill space. I think the Adamas Family is popular and needs to be on the list. The Triage Family is a unique offering and I think somewhat popular.

Is the 705 basically a smaller 710? If so, perhaps we can lump them together?

I thought of the 805 TSEK but ran out of the 20. Will include.

Would Snody Family be too broad?

Here's a new proposed sorted list:

  1. 140 Nimravus
  2. 42 Bali-Song
  3. 707 Sequel
  4. 710/705 Family
  5. 755 MPR
  6. 790 Subrosa
  7. 805 TSEK
  8. 806 AFCK
  9. 940/943 Family
  10. 950 Rift
  11. Adamas Family
  12. Ares Family
  13. Barrage Family
  14. Contego Family
  15. Griptilian Family
  16. Rukus Family
  17. Skirmish Family
  18. Snody Family
  19. Stryker Family
  20. Triage Family

The 42 won out of all those models. Amazing. But will they bring it back?

I would be happy with any and all of the choices on your list. Again, thinking of the past...two models I would also try to fit are the Emerson/Benchmade 970 and 975, classic and very tactical before tactical became a household word. And yes the 705 was a smaller yet unique sibling to the 710, not as many were made and so are hard to find these days.

To include the 970/975 Family we have to lose something. Perhaps Nimravus, Triage or 755 MPR.

We also need to add 530/531 Family.

Ive really got to give some love to the 860 Bedlam, and the 51 Morpho. I think theyre both incredibly unique knives, that were perfectly executed. The 51 is probably the most gorgeous, well constructed production balisong in its price range in my opinion.

It seems unfortunately they tried with the 60 series... I like them but the spring latch, and titanium handles win hands down. Thats be amazing if benchmade released a new titanium handled model like the 40 series....

People have been sending BM the message for years now, if, after the bracket battle, they don't bring it back, I doubt they ever will. I wish they would though, I'd buy it.

I lumped the 32, 42, 51, 53, 62, 63 and 67 into the Bali-Song Family.

Here's a new list but needs to be trimmed to 20. Proposed removals are indicated with strikeouts.

  1. 140 Nimravus
  2. 530/531 Family
  3. 707 Sequel
  4. 710
  5. 755 MPR
  6. 790 Subrosa
  7. 805 TSEK
  8. 806 AFCK
  9. 860 Bedlam
  10. 940/943 Family
  11. 950 Rift
  12. 970/975 Family
  13. Adamas Family
  14. Ares Family
  15. Bali-Song Family
  16. Barrage Family
  17. Contego Family

Benchmade should actually be a bit ticked at the results. Their most popular knife it a model they haven't produced in years. Every other bali didn't make it out of the first round.

Right now. If icould get just one of them, It would be the Skirmish. Hands down, and I have never even held one. I've honestly been contemplating getting on Neil Blackwood's books and getting a custom (after I save up the $1200 or whatever :o).

They ARE pretty sweet (here's a couple of Mini's):

Judging by the results of this bracket, i.e. the popularity of these knives, it looks like the 940 and 710 will be the next to be discontinued.

Somehow I doubt that will happen, 710 and 940 are still mainstays in the lineup. But you never know!

I like the looks of that 635, the patina's even better looking than the original unscuffed queen in the first set. Bet it wasn't hard to sell either.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Also, Ram what about the 7505? That bad boy has got to be up on peoples wish list, but maybe the cost makes it too prohibitive for this list.

Great knife and it's not just the cost but the fact that it's manual/auto and heavy. Also, we need to eliminate a few from the list to get it to only 20 for the poll.
