Including the Tweeners, would would be your 1-2-3 for: 1 - Skinning small game? 2 - Caping a dear or elk? 3 - completely processing a deer?

I definitely rank the 11/14 at the top for skinning. The shorter blade allows for more control, and there is plenty of belly. It's even better now with the zytel scales, no more bloody cord wrapping.

I rank the 17 second. Again, good belly and blade profile. I'm partial the the clip point for poking that first hole to get started. However, for small game, I think even the tweener blades are a bit long for me.

I'm going with the 15 for third.

15, 17, and either the 11 or 14. I personally carry either the 11 or 14 depending on what mood I'm in when I'm packing up, sometimes both. Handy to have hanging around your neck so that there is an almost nil chance of losing it and having to use a Leatherman or 7 or something to field dress/butcher your game. This list is in no particular order by the way.

I recently posted about using my 11 and 2 on skinning a turkey a couple days ago. The 11 was great in the handling department. I felt that I had excellent control and didn't even notice the shortness of the handle while I was at work. I could see the 11 working just as well on small game. I haven't used any other Beckers in game processing yet, but next on my list would be the 16. In my hands it feels like the perfect size for working up deer or other large game.

Last deer I field-dressed, I used my BK11 and found that blade to be very nearly perfect for me. I can lay my index finger along the spine and the tip of the knife lines up just about perfectly with the tip of my finger - important for control when you can't see what you are doing. Anything longer is too long to give the sort of control I want. Additionally, the skeletonized handle is convenient for cleanup.

As to the BK5 / BK15 - not for me, thanks. Those look like super slicers but by no means do I want a trailing point blade for processing game (other than maybe for cutting up the meat after the animal is dressed and skinned). Seems too easy to poke bits I don't want poked.

For me the top three would be:
BK11 / BK14 (tied for first and second place)
BK13

The BK-9 is the only Becker I have right now .Maybe I'll get back to this post after I buy some more Becker's and once Deer season gets here.

But I bet the 11,14, and all the tweeners will do a great job.;)
