What are your top 5 Busse users, and why?

Here are mine:

1. AK-47. I have two and they are both Banned (full convex with satin finish and polished edges). I use them daily to cut tatami mats.

2. Ruck. I use mine for yardwork. When I had my AKs Banned I thought I should probably stop using them for tree and bush trimming, so I decided I needed a large knife that was smaller than a machete and tough as nails. The Ruck made the perfect pick.

3. Game Warden. Again, I use it for yardwork. I also use it at the office, around the house, and for whatever uses seem to warrant a sharpened pry bar/pygmy hatchet. Surprisingly, there are quite a few.

4. Razor. I was skeptical of this knife for years, then got a Mud Razor and took it on a survival expedition. It was perfect. It can chop, slice, pry, and stab through almost anything. While it isn't perfect at any of these, it does them all, and that's the kind of knife I need when I'm in the sticks with no pre-packaged food or water for a week. I have several Hell Razors and Mud Razors as back-ups now, and can't really discern a difference in performance (but I like standard HR handles better that the asymmetric MR handles, for whatever reason).

5. Nick. The original "thin" Nick is the perfect kitchen knife. It's a cleaver and a fine slicer all in one. If only Busse would make a Kitchen Line complete with parers, steak knives, bread knives, and of course a nice 9-10 inch chef knife...

Those are my pics. What are your's?

the most use mine get are chopping on hikes, and are rotated each time i go. aside from that as follows (these are all that i have currently):
FBM - splitting wood, yard work
ASH SE - kitchen knife
SFNO - yard work
HR - yard work, some throwing
BATAC - throwing, beating on for fun

Here's mine, pretty much my whole collection. :o Mainly used on hikes in the woods.

1. AK-47 - Mainly used for Machette work, in the thick Pacific NW RainForests. Because lets face it, an AK-47 is way more cool than a Machette.

2. FBM LE/CG FBM - Chopping when the need arises, which ever I feel like packing that day.

3. SH-E - Chopping when the need arises. The knife that is strapped to my pack with the AK, try to cover all bases.

4. Skinny Ash - General food prep, occasional chopping.

5. Warden - EDC, any small cutting tasks. :)

I find the bigger Busses unhandy (too heavy and too big) for most of the tasks during my survival trips in Europe. For really heavy tasks I use an axe instead, but I occasionally take one of my NMSFNO's with me for some chopping activities as well. Besides that I only use a BATAC now and then.

Usually, my knife-set consists of Fällkniven F1/S1, Fehrman SC and a folder. I recently 'replaced' my Al Mar S2K for a Bradley Alias 1. So even though I love Busses, I rarely take them with me on my trips. I must admit that I don't have many smaller Busses like Active Duty in my inventory (yet). So I might be using inferior tools now.

My main user is the Batac. I use it on all my hiking trips. It slices, splits branches and it's even big enough to chop some wood for a small fire.
If the main job is chopping I use my NMSFNO,
and my EDC knives are FF Game Warden and an Assault shaker (though I have to admit that the last one now sits in the drawer because of the Izula - which is lighter and has a decend guard).

Fallknivens are indeed fine blades - my second favorite survival knife next to Busse. I'm not sure you'd like the AD, MS, or the GW more than an F1 but they seem to take a much better beating, from my experience.

As for the issue with larger Busses, I like them and would want one handy if I planned to dismantle a grove of trees or a wooden structure. But since I don't have anything like that around my place, I stick to an axe for chopping as well (lighter and easier to pack).

Yes I think that is a fair assessment. Try getting a Ruck if you can, it packs better and is a bit lighter. On the other hand, I think AKs are funner than Rucks so it can be a toss-up...

PD: gets it done
BA-E: get's it done when you need BM strength in a small package
NO-E (ZT): the original Skinny ASH :)
SHBA: one of the best designs ever
Mr. St.: stout and small

1st Alternate: BA-III, but when the time came to put it in harm's way it had become to valuable to take out of the safe, (I have since learned to buy two of each design)...

Looks like Badgers are pretty good users, judging from some of your responses. Can't say I have ever handled one, but the BA-E looks pretty sweet! I bet it would be a nice tools for when I needed something bigger than a GW but not too big to lug around all day.

1. Active Duty
2. Sarsquatch
3. ZT NO-E

And that's it. I have some more I call "designated users" if the occasion ever calls for it, but these are the ones I have actually used.

Day Hiking -- standard Basic 5
Offtrail/outback camping/backpacking (esp. in unknown territory) -- standard Basic 7
Hunting (large game, deer to elk size) -- Basic 5 with thinned edge/tip
Hunting (birds and small game up to and inc. deer) -- Scrapyard SS4
Dedicated chopper and in-4WD-emergency-carry (plus machete & axe) -- NMFBM

All applications include an accompanying folder, of appropriate configuration/size, from a Case mini-copperlock up to a Spyderco Military, depending.

Smog Warden everyday carry, Batac short hikes,NMSFNO and BAD for long stays out, and my CGFBM for destroying stuff, yup that about covers it, G.M

1. FFBM - yardwork, wood splitting... its an all around knife of mass destruction
2. Howling Rat - big edc
3. Fat GW - little edc
4. ASH 2007 SE - kitchen
5. all others have the duty of safe queen :D

1) NMFBM
2) FFBM
3) CGFBM
4) SAR5
5) SYDYK (Not really a Busse but still in the family)

I love using my mistresses and tend toward bigger tasks when out. Chopping, batoning, making shelters or benches/seats. The smaller tasks are handled by the SAR5 or the Yard Keeper. I just got it a month ago and it's a keeper for sure. I would partner one of these with every mistress I have, it's just an unbeatable combo.
