Being new to the world of Busse and INFI I have a question for the seasoned collectors: In your opinion, what would be the top collectible Busse knives? Would the list consist of knives out of the custom shop, limited editions, or scarce military over-runs? In my opinion all Busse knives are awesome, but what are considered the best-of-the-best for a collection?
Thanks,
Mike

I know for a fact (cos it took me ages to get one) that the 1 of 300 SHBM is hard to find and quite desirable !!

Anything pre- SHSH too and the few special Busse's kicking about - you'll know them when you see them !!

If we getting out the collectables and customs:D
How about these;)

There are actually a lot of collectible Busses, but do you want one that is rare or one that is just collectible. For example most of the Straight handled stuff is now fairly hard to get and collectible, however it is not especially rare(hard to get yes, rare no) What I mean is that there were a lot of straight handled pieces made, but now they are harder to find because they are in collections, in use, or in toolboxes ;)

However, there are also a lot of rare collectible Busses. When I say rare I'm thinking one-off pieces, or maybe less than 10 pieces made. For example, how often have any of us seen a Bird & Trout come up for sale, or one of the Busse Axes, the 10" BB SH, etc. These are very rare collectible Busses.

Personally I have decided that I enjoy the "hunt" for rare collectibles, the limited pieces, the less than 10, the variants, the customs, the unusual pieces. They are harder to find, they are generally more expensive, but it sure is fun when you find something that you didn't even know existed ;)

I hope this helps

:D:D

In addition to my earlier post I would like to add if you want to start collecting them, first start using them, decide what you like and then focus on that aspect to form a collection of what you like. Also, decide in advance if you are doing this for the fun of it or for investment potential. Those are separate goals and you'll want to buy different types of pieces

:D:D

Is there any chance the old Straight Handle will be produced again....??? :D

One can only wish... That would be

Maybe if we said pretty please to Jerry and forward some nectar of the Gods he might consider it....................................... in two weeks. :D

IMO, the one absolute essential for a Busse collection is the Steel Heart 1, the granddaddy of those to come. A good core of a collection would be a representative sample of each generation of Steel Heart, since it is the flagship of the Busse line. Us piglets can only dream about Silent Knights, Defiance Hills, etc.
