In basic it's the two hand working version of the speedlock.
The speedlock is an automatic and the top lock a button lock.
The button works to unlock lock the knife to open and close the knife. It has a nail nick so you have to push the button and use the nail nick with your other hand to operate the knife.
The speedlock has an extra spring which is attached to the blade to work automatic with one hand.
I have a speedlock 2. Unfortunately they are no longer legal overhere as it is an automatic. (Same with you guys in the US i think).
Except for the added spring the speedlock & toplock are basicly the same.
They have aluminium cast handle's with either kraton or wood inlays and 4034 stainless steel blade at aprox 54-55 hrc.
I have my speedlock 2 with cocobola inlays for about 6 years and it is a good quality knife imo.
the toplock and toplock 2 have different bladelength. 3.3 versus 2.8 inches.
Plus ;
great bladesteel i can get scary sharp very easily. Good edge holding for general EDC. Good lock up . thight tolerances . Nice look . Easy assemblage for cleaning.
Downside ;
handle is a bit slick. i would not recommand this knife for dirty jobs when your hands get wet or slippery. Alluminum scratches easy so i would not recommand to toss your keys or coins in same pocket with it.
I see it more like a gentlemen's pocketknife. Hall Berry used a speedlock 2 in 007 to peel an apple. ( I would like to share an apple with her... lol)
