Top ten knives under $30

Mora, SAK, Opinel are often recommended in these posts, justifiably so. I also like Buck knives, who offers several options under $30, and my favorites, the Svord Peasant Knives.

there are some real good budget knives in the $30 range, but $40 dollars would be more realistic.

my top 10

Buck 110-*usually cost $40, but you could find one on sale for $30 or lower sometimes.

Ontario Utilitac II
Old Hickory Butcher Knife, 7inch or 14inch blade

Opinel
Kershaw-*find any kershaw budget folder $30 or under and pick one,LOL.
Cold Steel Voyager-* maybe if you get lucky you will find one for $30
Cold Steel Machete-* easily find a handful of different CS Machetes for $30 or under and you got a solid big blade.

The first that come to mind are...

1.Hard use: Ontario Rat 1

3. Any 2 or 3 layer SAK (except maybe alox, they're a little bit more expensive)
4. Leatherman Micra!!!!
5. Opinel No. 6 :D
6. Opinel No. 7 :D
7. Opinel No. 8 :D

In all probability, I'd just buy an Opinel and spend the rest on sharpening supplies.

love the opinel, mora, svord, and budget kershaw and spydie lines, but my favorite would be a case Peanut or soddie, yeller and cv of course.
Also, as we are not restricted, Old hickory should get an honorable mention for the kitchen. like many in this range, after some sharpening, they are great value.

Victorinox and Wenger, various models. Just picked up a Wenger S10 for $12 closeout.

AG Russell has a number of excellent items in that price range, and all with his unconditional guarantee. Hunters Scalped and Woodswalker come to mind.

Opinel, it goes without saying.

Mora. Of course. And at $30 you don't have to 'settle' for one of the cheapest plastic molded models either.

The imported KaBar hunting knives with stacked leather handles are great tools, and they start at under $30.

Case Sodbusters are either $25 or $30 depending on size. I have one that's very well made.

I've got several under that price, but the only one's in that range that I often carry are the SAK Alox Cadet, and Case Yellow/CV Pen knife.
