This is what I was fortunate enough to find at the gunshow last weekend. I always wanted a 'pen set' after seeing one used in a police training video, "Surviving Edged Weapons". A 'bad guy' takes out an officer, manning a metal detector, when he asks him to remove the 'pens' from his pocket......it doesn't take but a couple of seconds!

The Kelgin is a real nice and solid bali; it manipulates well and just "feels good". It's very similar to the one the Sniper 'picked off' the forums but without the beautiful mother-of-pearl. The BM 35 I couldn't pass up because of the sheath; I'd never seen one in that configuration. The knife itself is in very good condition and I was able to get the BM 35 and the 'Master' for $90; couldn't pass them up!!!

That's a good deal for $90, I don't suppose you want to tell us the price on the other custom?

If you ever are low on cash and some across a deal like that (the 35 and the other) let me know.

Have fun in Denver - let me know on what we talked about.

Thanks again for everything,

"Catch you on the flip side"!

I was at a show today. Saw a 3 inch BM Bali with the ever so hard to find Tanto blade. There was a couple of small scratches and a very tiny ammount of surface rust, easily cleanible. The price ($65) shocked the hell out of me. But I undid the latch to see how the pins were... It was too sloppy to take home. Way too much play. The pins were hidden, so a pin fix would have been out of the question. If all that slopiness wasn't there, I would have been the proud owner of a new Benchmade.

I believe I would have had to buy that tanto.
MMMMMMMMMM!

Did you ever hear the term: "Life time warrenty". I found a depression era Case knife that the guy sold me for $10, because the pins were lose in it. I sent it back to Case and they fully restored it for free, and dramaticly increased the value of that knife. If I could find one knife a day like that, or the one you passed up, I could easily make a living off of just that

If a knife has a good blade in it, everything else can be fixed. Thanks, JohnR7 www.BalisongKnife.com

I can not help but to think about the people who passed that knife up. I am sure it would go something like this: "Hay buddy, how much you want for that there butterfly knife". I am asking $90 for it. "90 bucks, you got to be kidding me, that guy over there is selling them for 5 bucks." Yes, but his is made in china and mine is made in America. "Well for 90 smackers, you can keep yours, china is just fine with me". YES, But ... as he goes walking off tell his wife what a idiot you are for trying to get $90 out of a knife that everyone else is selling for $5

Actually John, recently people have asked to do similar refurbishments to even fairly newer balis such as the 44 and 45. In matter of fact, they won't do it for free anymore. They charge $60 an hour for refurbishment work. So now if they won't even fix a 2-3 yr old bali, I doubt they will fix a much older one like Jeremy saw.

All in all, I would have still bought that bali.

I just checked, they still have the same warrenty that they have always had. It does not cover normal wear and tear on the knife or if someone abuses it. But if that is the case, if this is "normal" wear and tear, then you better put all of your Benchmades in a display case and buy a $10 Taiwan butterfly knife from me, before the prices go up to $12. Because if a $130 knife does not last any longer then a $10 knife, then to me your wasting your money. At least on the $10 Taiwans, you can replace the pins yourself fairly easy if you should need to. Thanks, JohnR7 www.BalisongKnife.com

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather spend the $130 and have a smooth, strong, and sharp quality piece than to spend $10 ($13 if your price goes up

) on a cheap break persistant china cheapie.

I bet 1 42 will last longer than 13 china cheapies. I'm also sure everyone would rather have 1 42 than 13 cheapies too.
