Tops a.l.r.t thoughts please?

I am wondering if anyone has the simple A.L.R.T knife by Tops. I wonder how effective it is, and what the quality of the light is? I am wondering if you think it would be an effective tool for a woman as a concealable self defense occasional utility tool. I would like to give some as gifts, but it has to be effective, employable, and likely to be carried by a less then seasoned knife person. I would really like input on the Alrt tool, especially without scales. For $20 it seems like a possible winner, especially if the sheath gives good retention.

I had one light is o.k. , knife feels nice and solid but I got over the novelty pretty quick. Not a great all purpose tool. Get a maglite solitaire, and a byrd might be a few bucks more but will definitely give you more utililty.
