I kinda got the fever for this knife to go with my glock when walking the dog in the back country. I would also carry it in my truck for what ever. I also thought it would make a good survival and SHTF knife. What do you all think? Is the blade to thick?

Seems awfully pricey for sharpened prybar made of simple 1095. You could probably find a decent custom from a newer maker for that price & material.

That said, it'll definitely be a good "beat the snot out of it" tool. 1/4" thick at 56RC is gonna be pretty hard to break.

Good looking knife. I can understand your attraction to it. Seems like a tough hombre.

For me, .25 is too thick for a blade of this size. It it were .187 I would like it better.

The blade grind is a little too “prybar” for my liking, but for shoving it into an attacking dog’s rib cage or chopping small branches/digging holes etc., in the woods, it should work well.

There are probably better alternatives for you at that price range. I prefer my RAT Cutlery RC6 for the very things you are describing. I call it my truck knife. Many other makers with fine knives in this genre also.

But if you just have to try it:), I say go for it.

I have one

Got it used here for $80

Had a convex edge put on

Very sturdy knife that you will pass on to your grandson

Then why did you start a thread asking about it if you already didn’t like it??

I’m confused

Go to YouTube and see some reviews on it and the TOPS Black Rhino

I did not really know the blade was that thick. I had also read it was 3/16" thick.

Theres nothing inherently wrong with a thick blade like that. I have a BK2-esque custom that is 1/4" thick, high saber grind down to zero. Its a prybar, but it cuts rather well.

The issue with thick is that thick=heavy. You rarely need that much steel.
