Tops blade holes/slots

Wondering the purpose of the holes and slot cutout on the Tops cat, but for making a spear?

I'm no expert, but my guess would be that, given it's intended audience it's made to be kind of a do everything utility knife. You could thread paracord through them and use the spine of the knife as a leveraging tool; You could use it as an emergency fishing line spool; You can blow bubbles with bubble gum if you lack the skill; etc.
