Tops BOB compared to ESEE4?

I have both - Esse 4 in stainless. They are both great blades.

The handle on the Esse 4 is smaller and thinner, so the Tops feels a little better in my hand. Really that is the main difference to me.

I prefer the esee 4, both are two totally different knives. The bob is comfortable but a bit larger than I'd like. The grind is awesome, but I still prefer the 4. The 3 is also an excellent knife, just as capable and a bit better at cutting and carrying.

How do the sheaths compare? I've not used the BOB and have only seen the sheath in pics/vids.

Both have kydex with the Esee also having a molle backing. The BOB has a belt clip not loop.

I strongly dislike the TOPS Kydex sheath because of the metal clip they use. It's just not a durable design (the clip).

They are both great knives and you can not go wrong either way. I have large hands so the BOB is much more comfortable in the hand. If hand size is not an issue then it really comes down to personal preference.

I don't have large hands - I wear L Mechanix gloves and can fit into M in a pinch - but even I found the 4's handle to be uncomfortable. It's fine on the 3, but with the blade increase of the 4, it was just a little awkward.

How do you take off the scales off of the tops bob I have one and I am trying to strip it and the lanyard hole thing is holding it together

You have to punch it out or slide the scales around using it as a pivot. The lanyard hole is pressed into place.

Haven't heard anything bad about ether. Might as well put the Becker BK16 in the mix.
