I really like the looks of this knife but have some second thoughts of buying one.
The blade is unlike most of their knives from 52100 ball bearing steel but at a (very) low 56 HRC (why?).
I believe it has a full flat grind which is a good thing for me.
The micarta handle looks grey (what I like) but seems everywhere to be described as black linen micarta?
Being used to Bark rivers this knife seems to have a less good price/performance ratio.
But I still like the looks :)

The specs:

Blade Length: 4 3/4"
O/A Length: 9 5/8"
Cutting Edge: 4 5/8"
Thickness: 3/16

The only reason I can think of for a lower rockwell would be to keep the edge from chipping as it would probably roll at that hardness. Let me also say I am no expert on this and I hope someone will come along and explain the lower rockwell. Sweet lookig knife.

Tops seems to make some pretty good knives. But I doubt they are as good or better than bark river. I find tops to be a little pricey for what they offer, but overall I have heard good things about them. Having a lower HRC will allow the knife to take more abuse, but it will not hold its edge as well as 58-60HRC. I feel that 3/16" thickness is a good size for most fixed blades as it is not too thin or too thick. I guess they were trying to make a tough knife that is not too thick.

They're making them from 52100 now? Hmmmm! Mine is made out of 1095.:grumpy:

I'm sorry ;)
How do you like the knife?

I love it. No problems...very nice blade length and profile. Feels great in the hand. If you need something more specific, let me know. It would kick ass in 52100. I wouldn't be worried about the 56 HRC, 52100 is some very tough stuff.....they'd rather have the edge roll a bit, then chip.
