Hello All,

I've been looking pretty hard at purchasing a TOPS CQT Magnum 711 or 747. I was wondering if any of you have experience with this knife, and if you could tell me what you think about it?

My main concern is blade play. I did a search on this knife and found a few threads users had posted about blade play in the CQT Magnum. Can anyone give me any more info on this? I am looking at this knife because it seems like a solid, hefty knife, but if it comes standard with blade play, I don't think I'll go for one. I realize that almost all knives will develop play after hard use and time, but I hate buying a new knife that comes with blade play.

Thanks to all who respond, I could really use the info.

I do not know anything about this knife but thought I would give your thread a little bump back to the top!:D

I have one of the newer 747s and it is a great folder. No more "play" in the action than is required for moving parts. I like mine for a nice hiking knife. Dissappears in it's sheath or a pocket but plenty of steel there when open for any cutting jobs I have to do. I love the folding Bowie concept and the TOPS 747 works. I have used mine for food prep and even some light chopping. Of couse when you chop with any liner lock the lock usually Tightensup but it is still easy enough to disengage afterwards. TOPS and FOX have done an outstanding job with these folders :)

I had one. I busted the tip off it fairly easy and offered to send it back and didn't have the best response from the company. The steel seemed crappy. One of the owners got into it with me via e-mail :jerkit: ...........basically, buy either a Benchmade Rukus, Spyderco Manix, or go custom.............:)
