TOPS Key D

TOPS isn't my favorite knife manufacturer, but every now and then, they do come up with something that catches my eye. They Key series has been out for a while, now, and TOPS has seen fit to add the Key D to the line up. Slightly larger than the others, she stands at 6 7/8" overall, with a 3.5 inch blade. It's fairly thin as far as TOPS goes, at 1/8" thick. Nice and sharp, serrations aren't for everybody (as if I had to tell you lot that). I was able to slice a tomato without making a mess. Comes with a chain to make it a necker, though I intend to use something different, maybe a piece of paracord. The string on the back is optional, I went for the blue. Right now, it's only available from the TOPS site, at $55 (pricey, but nothing from TOPS is cheap). All in all, I'm happy with it. Pretty good for the money, though I'm sure I could have something equally as good from other places.

Good review, thanks.
I have the Key B.( same handle). It is the only TOPs knife I own right now.
Yes paracord makes a big difference. I also thinned the edge a bit.

That looks like a handy little blade. The only Tops I have is the Mil Spie 3. Like LG&M, I chose to thin down the edge being as it's a 3/16" thick blade in 154cm. There is a lot of (not so practical to me) stuff to sort through on their website, but I think they have some pretty good quality. Sometimes you can find decent prices on them if you look around.

Does it come without serrations?
Nope. I emailed TOPS asking if you could get it without serration and they replied no, it was part of the design. TOPS, in my experience, is not a very customer friendly company. I mean, how much trouble could it be to pull an example from the production line before the serrations are ground? Especially since it's virtually the last step in the manufacturing process.
