Any one have any T.O.P.S. products? Every time I open a knife mag i see 5+ advertisements and i was wondering i anyone had any experience with them. Their knives (especially the hawk recon) look ridiculous to me and i was wondering if their for real? Im not trying offend anyone by my comments. Remember, its just like, my opinion, man.

Renfield...

My first knife from TOPS was the Wolf Pup.. It's a nice little blade,,and does it's job well...

I understand what you are saying. They do have their own look...But.. They are a Very Serious knife...

Have a look at the TOPS Anaconda 7"-9" blades...
These are designed by Doc Ron Hood of Hoods Woods.. One tough blade!

I have a TOPS Talonite Shadow Hunter and it a very well made, apropriately shaped knife. I am beyond pleased with it.

I am awaiting a TOPS WSI Ranger, a neck knife skinner with range finding holes in it, gimicky but cool.

Check out their Shadow Hunter in 1095 carbon steel and Talonite, or the Dawn Warrior, very nice.

Marion,
I'm sorry, but did you say the TOPS WSI Ranger has range finding holes? Range finding holes?!Again i'm sorry but what the heck does one need range finding holes in a knife for? Maybe it's just me but for the same money i'd get a Busse or a Randall; Proven performance without all the decorations and without those nutty little range finding holes.I cant stop saying range finding holes because it sounds so silly. The only hole that I need in a knife is one for the lanyard.

I had a TOPS firestrike, until my dad saw it. He liked it so much that I gave it to him. I must say it's a sweet knife. I only used it for light cutting before I gave it up. And I'll probably end up getting another before too long. I really liked that knife a lot; but I love my dad even more.

Oh, by the way, my sister got my street scalpal, too. I gotta find a way to keep a better grip on my knives.

I think he said he used them for twisting wire, or cutting wire. Isn't that right? I remember that thread from last September or October.

Like I said, they're pretty heavy duty. The joke was that the firestrike was a small knife. The thing is like a machete!
Still cool, though...

Hey Toast....

Ahhhh Ok.. Think I remember something about that as well..

In a survival blade,,this could come in handy,,for sure..
Thanks

I have had the Wolf Pup for a while now, and on that basis would not hesitate to order anything TOPS makes (from Hammerhead!).Unique looks, for sure, but very serious knives,if that's the type you're looking for.(great sheath,too.rare.)

This is great! I've seen the ads for TOPS knives and wondered too if they were OK. Neat look, but "rangefinding holes"? I do not understand. Can someone explain how these are used? I assume some sort of sight-through-the-holes-at-landmark-trail-orienting type of thing?

Fox Creek..

Yes,, you pretty much have it down...

A human is a predetermined height at a certain distance.. By using these holes you can formulate the distance of that person...

Jump over to the Wilderness Forum and ask Doc Ron,, about his "Rule of Thumb"

He is for sure the one to answer this question in detail...
