tops knives?

I have a few of their small fixed blades as well as a 4 and 1/2 tanto blade called a Battle Cry. Nice knife, solid as hell with a cross guard and paracord handle.. They seem to use all high carbon steel in all their knives, at least all the ones Ive seen. They hold an edge very well and I find em very easy to sharpen. The smaller fixed blade (Strikar) is one of my favorite EDCs. Its only 5 1/2 inches overall but has great ergos for my average sized hand. Great little SD knife. The other small fixed blade is made out of 1/4 steel (Scalpel), one tough little knife, kinda looks like a scalpel with a long thin handle and a short blade with a big belly. They both have micarta handle and for the price , I find they are of excellent quality. They have a web site, check em out. I was suprised by their variety. All fixed blades though, which is fine by me.

I have a CQT Magum folder (Trying to trade it) Its built like a tank and came very sharp, the hairs prefered to jump off my arm rather than be killed :D It locks up like a fixed blade, but damn, its big. If you have average size hands I wouldn't reccoment it.

I think TOPS stuff is very consistent in quality. If you can get one for cheap (they are ususally quite pricey) then go ahead, I don't think you will be dissapointed.

IIRC TOPS uses 1095 differentially heat treated for most of their blades. 5160 by request. Call them and ask.

If the price is right go for it. I sold them for a couple of years. Very solidly built, and I agree with Temper, they are pricey for the materials used. Compare prices from their website with the ebay price and then decide. Good luck
