I'm looking at a TOPS fixed blade, and would appreciate input from others that have done business with them, as well as the quality of the knife, customer service, etc. Thanks for your help.

I have 3 Top's and like em., They work well for me and made of 1095 with a good heat treat , well done , I use my Anaconda for woods clearing , digging , and hacking wire ,(cow fence) , holds up great and very easy to sharpen , 1095 will rust but mine is black coated and have no problem with rust, Top's people are great to deal with and even reply to email's.:D

I have used a Steel Eagle, one of the worst knives I have handled to date, in regards to cutting ability, chopping, durability and handle ergonomics, the performance is much higher with something from the Becker line or Ranger Knives. Customer service was nonexistant on mine, I had two fractures, tip and teeth, and no responce to emails.

emails replied to for me too. no problems there. i haven't had any problems with my TOPS kinfe and plan on getting another model soon... when it's released.

Same type of experience with them as Cliff. Don't waste your money. I had their big folder. Friggin tip snapped off when I stuck it in a pine step. Went to get it back out while I was walking by and SNAP..........:grumpy:

i've got one, a street scalpel. I love it, 1095 steel takes an edge well and holds it pretty well. the only problem is the thickness of the steel stock which is at least 1/4" thick. makes a good sharpened crowbar. later, ahgar

Hi everyone.

Handled a bunch at my friend knife store. Wasn't really impressed. Fit and finish was mediocre at best and the blade coating was similar to what I've seen on imitations from China. I have never but any of these knives to good use though, so Cliff can cover that area.

Stay sharp!
D.H.

Also note that there are quite a few Chinese copies of TOPS knives circulating around (possibly the problems with customer service are exacerbated by this?).
They look quite a lot alike from the photos I've seen.

I agree with ahgar about the Streel Scalpel - the handle isn't as grippy as I'd like though...
